Collage Woman

$165.00

Collage Woman is the result of a writer/artist collaboration with Emma Heath. The combination of image and text can be seen on Emma’s Instagram feed @emptybrackets.

The entire quilt is made by hand. The only machine stitching is on the binding. All the raw-edged shapes are appliqué. Embroidery was used to add details and the piece was then quilted with Kantha-style stitching.

I create all my work in my studio overlooking the Puget Sound on Whidbey Island. All designs are original and are copyrighted by me. My studio is smoke-free and pet-free.

Materials used: linens with cotton thread embroidery and quilting
Hanging device: wood slat attached to the upper back lining
Year created: 2020

Dimensions
15x10”

Care: Avoid hanging in direct sunlight. To remove dust, brush lightly with a lint roller.

Working on the rabbit story collage I started a few months ago. Background is stitched and now I’m adding texture and detail to the rabbit.

There’s a story behind this rabbit and how her family came to live in Langley and I’m telling it. Work in progress.

Homework for a workshop with @elinnoble. I’m working on improving my shibori skills. Right now though, it looks like a rats nest—or some abstract art.
